Great Tv dispite bad reviewsthis tv is great. alot of people said that this tvs power sourceturns off and all kinds of things. I personally went through 5 lcd tvswithin a month to figure out which is the best. Hands down this LGmodel is great. Great for gaming which is the main purpose for gettingit(xbox360). In all honesty i had a 1080p hdtv before i got this andthere isnt much difference. The fast 5ms time insures no ghosting ormovies and gaming. It did take some tweaking but the colors that camepreset were perfect and all i adjusted was brightness and messed withthe xd engine. The speakers are great. If you want the best bang foryour buck buy this tv.LG is a great brandBang for the BuckLG is a well known quality maker of LCD panels for quite awhile...this TV is no different. If you are looking in the 32 inchrange, this is the sweet spot. You can spend lots more for otherbrands, or you can enjoy this high quality value. It has a stunning 32inch 720P HD picture with a built in HD tuner. There are LOTS of ports,including 2 HDMI and 2 sets of component inputs...enough for all yourhigh end components such as surround sound systems or XBOX or PS3 orwhatever it might be! The XBOX 360 games looked incredible on this tvwhen I set the xbox to HDTV and 720p mode...incredible clarity. Theresponse time is great on this LCD, making video games and movies lookamazing. I think you will be VERY surprised what this TV can do for theprice...I chose it after seeing it on a display wall up against 6-7other brands...this was the sharpest most colorful picture by far, itwasn't even close. I'd look for this model on SALE as the price seems to float around$700 or so depending where you go.My only complaint? I want the 37inch version now too!!!AWESOME PICTURE! HIGLY RECOMMEND!This TV was a replacement for a Sony Bravia "M" series. We werevery unhappy with the Sony's picture. We bought this due to the priceand the contrast ratio of 8000:1. Beware of LGI bought one LG 42 inch plus several 26 inch and 32 inch LCD TVsfor my business including the model listed above. Six of them went outin less than 2 weeks. That works out to a 33 percent failure rate whichis totally unacceptable. It shows a complete lack of quality control.Even though the problems were all different from each other, therepairman said it was the main board on the 4 TVs he is working on. Hehas not started work on the other two yet. Then, of course, the part ison back order. At this rate I estimate that as many as 70 to 80 percentcould fail in just a few months. I also found out that LG put out a bulletin about these problems onsome of their models before I even ordered these TVs. This clearlyshows that LG knew they were selling defective TVs, but sold themanyway. Sure, it does have a nice and bright picture, but are youwilling to take a chance considering the odds? Would you trust acompany that knowingly sells defective products? Are you sure that youwant that LG TV?This is not the only problems I have had with LG. I also have awasher that has been repaired twice. Then there was the cell phone thatpromptly went out and I got rid of it.Apparently LG is not a reliable brand, especially their TVs, and should be avoided.Vivid colors, good for the price, but "flickers"I was going to buy a new LCD monitor to replace my regular computer monitor and seven year old 27" CRT.I ultimately chose the LG monitor as they make their own panels andthe display looked sharp. The contrast ratio being 8000:1 (compared toanother high quality brand whose ratio was 7000:1) was the biggestselling point.Now for the tests.On my old computer monitor, playing DVDs or video games, the brightness was always consistent.On the LG unit, there is a bizarre backlight flicker depending onhow much detail is on screen. This I tested and proved by running a DVDplayer in windowed mode, covering about 40% of the screen. It is alsorepeatable if I use this as a standalone TV, but the effect isn't aspronounced. I get the impression the TV is proactively deciding howbright the backlight should be lit. This is disconcerting, so Iwouldn't recommend using this device as a substitute for a computermonitor.As for backlight bleed, it's well contained - only a little on thebottom. Watching 4:3 movies in standard resolution (the vertical blackbands on the sides) look dark gray. But noting this monitor, as theSamsung, were blacker than any of the competing monitors, I'd hate tothink how badly a lower cost display would look. One amusing aspect ratio I found is called 'horizon'. This runs themonitor in 16:9 mode, but pinches the display inward - this allows old4:3 programs to look fairly normal in a stretched environment. Viewing4:3 pan and scan shows, the whole display is filled but objects towardthe center (where one's eyes tend to roam) looks normal and notstretched. I used the same 3' Component cables (R/G/B) that I used on the CRTmonitor. The signal is strong. But problems I never fathomed due toCRT's low resolution show up big-time on this monitor. That just goesto show how well technology has advanced.For the most part.LCDs (and plasma) both have more difficulty with blacks than CRTmonitors. However, the pros (wide screen, thin, light, use less energy,produce less heat) are viable trade-offs. It's still going to take sometime to get used to the changes in technologies, but by and largethey're all good changes. All in all, I think this is a good unit. Very vibrant (it put my HPLCD monitor to shame, and it is rated 1000:1) and is so sharp it showsoff every compression artifact on a DVD.LG will give Samsung a run fortheir money...As good or better than Sony and SamsungPicked this up after staring at it side by side with the sony and samsung equivalents and the picture was the best. No problems at all, great clean and bright picture, good sound andnice remote. Goes great with your HDTV DVR receiver and the dozens ofnew HD channels coming online with DirectTv now. Got the 3 year warranty for 100 dollars which covers everythingfrom pixel burnouts to the tv catching fire. Anybody that doesn't get awarranty and then whines about something going wrong has it coming tothem. Regardless of brand, LCD T.V.s are known for having a highproblem rate. They are a relatively new technology still.

Great Picture - Highly RecommendedI went to a couple of our local big box stores and took a look at all the flat-panels of around this size as a second TV. Pros: This model (and several other LGs of various sizes that we saw)definately had the most pleasing 'out of the box' picture quality.Several others had less vibrant images or narrower viewing angles orboth. The Sony screens had very vibrant images that were pleasing froma distance, but suffered from jagged edges due to poor anti-aliasing.The image on this screen has great color, great contrast, and excellentanti-aliasing. That means the picture is not only great in HD, but alsovery pleasing in standard TV resolution. Other factors favoring this HDTV are a great build quality and ascreen that does an excellent job of maintaining brightness and claritywhen viewed off-angle - even off-angle high/low. Cons: If I have one minor issue, it's that there the aspect ratio controlincludes no 16:9, proportional (non-distorting) zoom. Programs aretransmitted in dozens of different formats these days. It's not thatunusual to find a program that matches the full screen aspect ratio,but has a significant border on all sides. We have another HD set thatallows me to zoom the whole picture up without any change in aspectratio (because changing the aspect ratio would distort the picture).This set does not offer that adjustment. My only other minor nit-pick with this product is that we have,through our local cable company (Cablevision), a Scientific AtlantaExplorer 4250 HD cable box. Although it's a breeze to hook up to theLG, using a single HDMI cable, the remote on the cable box does nothave a code to program it to control the LG brand. Although I've foundalternate codes that give most of the functionality, I cannot use themute button on the cable box remote for this set. Although this iscertainly not LG's fault, it is another minor inconvenience. Conclusion: All things considered, we're very happy with this HD screen. Thesmall negatives are certainly outweighed by the excellent image andbuild quality - the most important measures of performance.Not too bad,but...Well, we picked the TV up at a special sale at BrandSmart a fewdays ago, and at first it seemed like a great bargain. But here are thefew things we didn't like about it: when I connected HDMI DVD/5.1surround sound system to it, I found out that it loses the signal everytime you have to pause the movie for whatever reason. Going back tounpausing it didn't work always- it would lose the signal and just thesound would come on, then I would have to shut it down and start itagain, and sometimes that didn't help neither. Very disappointed! Thishappened with both HDMI connectors. The other major issue we had wasthe TV must have a very narrow viewing angle because when we put it alittle above regular viewing position (we used it in the bedroom andwhen you lay down you can't really position it straigh on level withyour feet, it has to stay a bit higher) the clarity went out and thepicture looked like an old film negative, where you see silhouettes inplaces where black color was involved and you'd have to stand up andhave to watch it at a "straigh at your eyes" angle or the picturesuffered. That was the final straw. TV went back, and for a couple ofhundred dollars more, we got a Samsung, same dimentions, but thedifference is just unbelievable. Same position of viewing, no pictureproblems at all... The price was right, but this LG leaves a lot to bedesired. Great first time LCDFinally time to upgrade from the portable black & white. Had alittle Christmas money & started shopping around. First was lookingat the larger sized Olivia's at Target & Kmart. They seemed likequite the realestate for the $. Checked around & after listening tosome of the online horror stories on returns, I got a little spooked.After a lot more review reading online, everything seemed to point toSamsung & Toshiba. Started checking them out at Circuit City &they looked fine, but the picture of the LG seemed to really pop,compaired to the other two. Had not planned at all on LG, but wasreally taken by the side by side picture comparison. Didn't seem likeit mattered which size you were looking at, LG seemed a little better.Hemmed & hawed for a couple of days & thought I'd go see whatBest Buy had to offer. Wasn't all that up on Best Buy & reallywanted to give C.C. the business, but Best Buy had a reboxed unit for areally great price. Again, tried to be very subjective on the picturequality as they had all three brands & darn-it, no matter what sizeyou looked at, from the big 40somethings on down, LG seemed to have apicture that was more alive. I really wanted to get a bigger screen, & after watching theSuper Bowl on it, it's not the best for watching sports on - size wise- but I felt quite good with myself for not having to put anything onthe credit card. Paid off is a much better feeling. So, it's been several months now, have pretty well mastered theset & am still quite happy with the purchase. It's a really greatlooking set, you can get some pretty impressive sound out of the stockspeakers, you can see it from some extreem side angles - happy allaround.Lot's of inputs, but have only used the DVD & VHS hookups sofar. I'd definitatly recommend this little LG. - As a side note, justgot back from a hotel in Colorado Springs that had LG 42"ers in therooms. The maintenace guys told me that the ones they got had issueswith high elevation. Might want to check into that, if applicable.

LG 26LG40I wanted a tv to mount on my bedroom wall and decided on this one.The slim design is good. The picture is excelent. The picture fromthe dvd player is excelent. The one draw back is the sound is so"quiet" when watching a DVD movie. The sound does not seem to increasehigher than the fifty percent level even though the volume is truned upto one hundred percent. The sound from the TV chanels is fine. It is agood thing that my hearing is ok. Nice for Small RoomNice solution for a small bedroom. Good quality picture and sound.Would have preferred black instead of the red colour. Max sound is notsuitable for a large room. I am a bit concerned (based on otherreviews) about the longevity of the DVD player and will post an updateonly if dissatisfied. DVD Player on TV lasted less than 2 monthsI did not purchase this TV at Amazon. I have purchased a larger LCDfrom Amazon, and to their credit, that was a great experience. Now ontothe LG 26LG40. I bought this TV/DVD Combo, for the sole reason of beingable to hang it on the wall and not have anything except myantenna/satellite hooked up. It works beautifully for that. I was ableto use a splitter backwards, combine my sat and ota antenna feeds andthe TV worked great to tune it all in. The DVD WAS great for about 2months, a little less actually. Then it stopped taking the discs intothe player, making it very useless. I paid a premium for the DVD playerbeing built in. This tv has specs that can be had for much less.However, I thought I was buying a quality product that would meet myneeds. Now with the DVD needing repair, I have to ship it back to an LGrepair shop, and I will be without a TV for 10-14 days while they fixit. Did I mention I have had it for 2 months. I would NOT buy this TVagain. For that matter, I would not buy an LG Product.

Best TV under $800I set this TV up for a friend and the factory settings are not allthat great. I changed the settings to VIVID then turned off/low ALL thenoise reduction, gamma, black, etc filters with color temp at warm.Sharpness down to 20. With those settings, WOW!!! I was blown away withthe picture quality on blu-ray discs via PS3 (Layer Cake, 5th Element,TMNT). Absolutely gorgeous picture. Played Battlefield Bad Company andit was a crisp, sharp, clean, beautiful picture. Gaming looks great!!!If you are looking for a 32" set, this is THE ONE! Best 720P 32" outthere. Never seen anything better for this price. Not Bad For the PriceMy parents were looking for an HD replacement for their aging 32inch CRT set, and they did not want to buy anything larger for theirrelatively small living room. After doing some online research andlooking at various sets in the store, I thought (and still think) theSamsung LN32A450 was significantly superior to this set. In the store Ithought the LG picture looked almost dingy by comparison. However, the LG was about $200 cheaper than the Samsung, and myparents bought the LG. I set it up for them after swapping out theirold cable box for an HDMI capable cable box, with no problem. Theinstructions for assembling the base were very sketchy, but we figuredthem out. I connected the set using an HDMI cable from the cable box,and component video inputs from their older Sony DVD player.At first the picture was very bad, even after setting the pictureon the home setting. I found Vivid to be unwatchable, and changing toCinema was almost as bad. Shadows were blue and flesh tones were green.I did some more searching online, however, and found recommendedsettings for the set, on CNET. LG has remarkably precise picturecontrols for a set in this price range, allowing for a ten point IREadjustment. After some playing with the menus (which are not veryintuitive) I managed to calibrate the picture using the suggestedvalues for red, blue and green. The result was very good, if less thanstellar compared to some other sets in this price range. In a low lightenvironment the picture is clear and crisp, and the color is very good.Flesh tones after the adjustment were accurate. Football in HD was verynice, with accurate color and no motion problems. Non-HD cable moviechannels were fine for modern films, and for black and white. Thecontrast was not that great for non-HD channels. DVD playback from anolder player without progressive scan was adequate, but the blacklevels were not as good as some other sets I looked at. This mightimprove with an upconverting DVD player. In full daylight I had aproblem with glare, and a commensurate loss of detail in the picture.This was easily remedied by closing the drapes.I was able to program the universal remote supplied by our cableprovider, and switching from cable to DVD and back is fairly simple.The sound can be set for a pseudo-surround mode, which was fine withinthe obvious limitations of such small speakers. The sound is certainlyas good as any other set within this price range.Bottom line, in my subjective opinion, is that the LG is more thanadequate for the price after some calibration of the picture, but notas good as the Samsung LN32A450, and certainly not as good as a 1080pmodel (for example, the Samsung LN32A550), even in this size screen. GREAT PICTURE, amazingly user-friendly-idiot proof!We are not early-adopters and don't want to have to go through alotof choices that to us are nitpicky and irrelevant just to get anelectronic device to work. Our last TV was a CRT and literally took 45minutes before you could watch TV. This took less than 15, and that'sbecause we did the optional auto channel search. This set has zillionsof bells and whistles that you can select when you feel like it, andthe menus are all very intuitive and easy to use, not in techno-speakthat makes you go "huh?" There's even a huge red button on the front toturn it on and off! The remote is easy to use, too. We had no problemwith the sound, but the set is in a small room. The picture is great,and very easy to adjust for sports, movies, games, etc. Very easy tosee from all angles of the room, too.

Which Size HDTV is Right for My Room?

Withstandard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feelcomfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screensize in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that youcan sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So withHDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 timesthe screen size (in inches) for the best experience. Sound good, Picture good. Too bad no sync.We bought this unit bec we saw it in the store andthe picture was outstandingly beautiful. What we could not have knownwas that there would be an extremely annoying mismatch of picture andaudio in the HD mode using our Comcast Motorola HD cable box. Afterrealizing this problem, we Googled it and found multiple, similarcomplaints. Then we used the Contact Us feature in the LG website, anda tech offered to send us a firmware update. We declined bec we knewfrom other complaints found in Google that the LG "fix" -- a firmwareupdate they offered -- did not help. Plus, it would take a few weeks toarrive. That would put us beyond the return deadline. So we returnedthe unit and paid $100 more for a 26" Sony Bravia 5000 which we loveand does not seem to have this problem. Great TV at a great priceWe purchased this television a few months ago forour bedroom and have really liked it. Very clean and sharp imagequality. We like the sound quality as well. We have this televisionconnected to a DVD player and our cable box and haven't had any issues.When we purchase our next television we'll buy from LG. The onlycomplaint I have is we purchased it at a best buy and it is cheaperhere at Amazon. Very Satisfying!I bought this set about 4 months ago and have hadno problems. I normally use it connected to my DirecTV box but I'vealso connected it to my laptop to access wireless as well as wiredInternet Netflix. No problems whatsoever. The user interface isfriendly. I most appreciate the energy savings feature! Thanks LG :)

Great Tv dispite bad reviews this tv is great. alot of people said that this tvs power sourceturns off and all kinds of things. I personally went through 5 lcd tvswithin a month to figure out which is the best. Hands down this LGmodel is great. Great for gaming which is the main purpose for gettingit(xbox360). In all honesty i had a 1080p hdtv before i got this andthere isnt much difference. The fast 5ms time insures no ghosting ormovies and gaming. It did take some tweaking but the colors that camepreset were perfect and all i adjusted was brightness and messed withthe xd engine. The speakers are great. If you want the best bang foryour buck buy this tv.LG is a great brandBang for the BuckLG is a well known quality maker of LCD panels for quite awhile...this TV is no different. If you are looking in the 32 inchrange, this is the sweet spot. You can spend lots more for otherbrands, or you can enjoy this high quality value. It has a stunning 32inch 720P HD picture with a built in HD tuner. There are LOTS of ports,including 2 HDMI and 2 sets of component inputs...enough for all yourhigh end components such as surround sound systems or XBOX or PS3 orwhatever it might be! The XBOX 360 games looked incredible on this tvwhen I set the xbox to HDTV and 720p mode...incredible clarity. Theresponse time is great on this LCD, making video games and movies lookamazing. I think you will be VERY surprised what this TV can do for theprice...I chose it after seeing it on a display wall up against 6-7other brands...this was the sharpest most colorful picture by far, itwasn't even close. I'd look for this model on SALE as the price seems to float around$700 or so depending where you go.My only complaint? I want the 37inch version now too!!!AWESOME PICTURE! Love it!I researched LCD TVs via Consumer Report, CNET, Amazon's customerreviews, and technology blogs for over a month before buying this TV(LG's 32" lineup is curiously absent from CNET and Consumer Report). Inthe end, it came down to two things: image quality and appearance ofthe panel; price was not a concern for this purchase. I went with 32"based on the size of my room (I live in a studio apartment).PictureThe case was pretty much settled as soon as I saw the LG in thestore. True, Sharp and Samsung had deeper blacks, but Sharp's becameoversaturated and even their 1080p 32" set lacked detail under brightlight (my living room is very bright). Samsung had strong detail, butthe response time on most of their 32" models is 8ms and my eyes couldsee blurring. The LG had tight, crisp images with extremely accuratecolor and fairly dark blacks. There was no blurring or ghosting anddark scenes were rendered in excellent detail.DesignBoth Sony and Panasonic had comparable image quality to the LG anda few extra bells and whistles, but their casing had exposed logos,buttons, speakers, lights, etc. Furthermore, their panels were muchthicker (the LG is only about 3" deep). Since I don't have a TVcabinet, an LCD has to be a piece of furniture in my living room andthat tipped the scales in favor of the LG... thin, smooth, and shiny.It's almost discreet and will not dominate a room.ExperienceI almost fell over when I plugged in a set of cheap rabbit ears(!)and picked up the local broadcasts in HD. I could see the pinstripes inthe weatherman's suit, the bag's around the newscaster's eyes, andJudge Judy's frown lines. But plugging in my AppleTV made me abeliever... the quality is SHOCKING and my friends tend to crowd aroundthe TV to inspect the detail. The menu system is very simple and Ifigured I would have to calibrate the picture settings, but LG has an"intelligent eye" mode where a light sensor built onto the front of theTV detects the conditions in the room and automatically adjusts thebrightness and contrast on the screen. So far, I have had no complaintsabout the TV's judgement.ValueThe TV came with some welcome extras in the box. The remote isuniversal and works with almost any device (programming codes are inthe manual). The base is detached by default for easy wall-mounting,the owner's manual is on a CD and is searchable (I hope othermanufactuers follow suit), and LG even threw in a wiping cloth to keepthe glossy black frame clean. There is also a cable restraint and anextra cable to attach to your antenna/cablebox.By far and away, I feel I got an exceptional value for my money and would highly recommend this panel. Stunning.This TV is absolutley stunning. It is one of the best 32" I haveseen, including Sony and Samsung. The black cabinent is gorgeous andthe picture is awesome, and I'm not even viewing in HD. (Dorm Cable). Ihave a Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii hooked up to it and they bothlook amazing. The TV accepts 1080p input, but displays it in 720p. Thisis fine because you cant tell the difference in TVs under 40". I havefriends with Samsungs which I was looking at, but this TV was so muchbetter.You will not regret this purchase!Lots of extras for the money...I've had this set for about a week, and so far I'm very pleased. Igot it at a local department store for a price competitive with some ofthe third tier brands such as Olevia, Vizio and Polaroid. (I considerLG to be a second tier brand - not as well known or as popular asSamsung, Sony or Panasonic, but with a longer history and track recordthan the third tier brands.) The picture is outstanding with good colorrendition and great black level. The setup offers a lot of opportunityto adjust the color level, and it remembers the color adjustmentsseparately for each input on the set. This is important because theproper color adjustment for the picture can vary widely depending onthe source. The remote and controls are fairly easy to understand, andI was able to program my Dish Network remote to operate the basicfunctions of the TV, including Power, Volume, and input source.Speaking of input source, this set has another great feature: like manyTV's, the remote has a single button that toggles through the variousinputs. But this is the first TV I've used that ignors any unusedinputs - so you don't have to toggle through a lot of black screensjust to get to the three inputs you are really using. It also has areally cool feature called "Media Host." The TV has a USB port on theside that allows you to plug in a flash drive. If you load a flashdrive with pictures and MP3 music files, you can then select individualpictures to display on the TV, or set it to display all of the picturesas a slide show. It will also play your MP3 music files. You can evensetup a music play list to play at the same time your slide show isrunning! (And my digital pictures look much better on this screen thanthey did on my computer screen.)I have also tried connecting an antenna to the TV. It does a goodjob of picking up my local digital TV stations off air, and the picturelooks great. Finally, this set has 3 HDMI inputs, and 2 Component inputs -which is much better than many bargain priced sets. The only downsideis that most of the inputs face the back of the set - which could makewall mounting more difficult.Overall this is a very good TV for the money.

Excellent, Great PictureUpdated June 17, 2008: This is our second flat-screen LG TV. Webought a bigger unit for downstairs and just picked this one up for theMaster suite. We've hung it on the wall, using the HDMI connection. Welove it.Pro:-Very light (~35 pounds) and super thin (~4")-Remote is nice and feels good in my hand-I like that the power button is on the front (cleverly hidden intoa piece of the silver trim that runs along the bottom) and input,volume and channel can be changed from the right side/edge. This ishandy when the remote goes missing or it's far away.-Excellent black, and contrast. I personally think it produces the best (blackest) black, and doesn't wash out-Rated for 60,000 hours of use (that's 2500 days if you left it onall day every day or 20.5 years if you had it on only 8 hours a day)-3 HDMI connects, we are using 2, plus it does has USB 2.0 so itcan power more advanced devices, presumably for things like "thumbdrives" for viewing digital photos (although we've not tried anythinglike that yet)-Fast and easy set-up/install (hung on the wall)-Speakers are hidden -In case it wasn't clearly described in the tech specs you've seenelsewhere, this is a 16:9 widescreen LCD HD 1080p TV (that's fullhigh-definition)-Warm up time is short, maybe 3 seconds or so-Very wide viewing angle, looks great in a big space when seated to the side of the TV-Good for Blu-Ray (although we don't have it... our DVD player does"upgrade" our DVD signal/picture, but it's not true Blue-Ray)Con:-Full sound, but in my opinion with the factory settings we didn'tget as strong of a center channel as we would like, which usuallycontains the primary dialog. This led us to ramp up the volume tocompensate and would not have been an issue if we were hooking into ourstereo for surround sound. Since we did not do this, some trial anderror with the sound settings was required for us to successfullymitigate this problem.Neutral:-Tip: when looking for a wall mount, don't pay more than about $75.This unit is light, and anything big and fancy is probably going tolead to a financial soaking! -We haven't used the stand, sorry. It looks ok I guess, but can't review it since I haven't used it.-Tip: I can't confirm this, however the HDMI cable box I got frommy cable company responds much faster to channel changing that ourother regular HD box did before we traded it in when we got our TV. Theold box would randomly pause for 1-8 seconds as well. We've not hadthis problem with either HDMI cable box we've gotten.-Tip: Play with your settings to get the best sound, don't rely on the factory settings.Bottom line: The LG HDTV line is very good as a whole. This unit is no exception, it's awesome.We highly recommend it.Fantastic Picture for a Great Price.I have had my LG for about 2 weeks. I did about 2 weeks of researchbefore purchasing it. I wanted to replace the 30" Olevia in my bedroomthat is a little too small. I measured my armoire and had room for most37" flat screens. My criteria for a new set was size and I wanted1080P. My research included the JVC LT-37X688 37-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV,the Toshiba REGZA 37RV530U 37-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV and the SamsungLN37A550 37-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV. I decided on getting the LG mainlybecause of a couple of good reviews, LG makes many of the screens ofthe other manufacturers and because I could pick one up locally. The actual unit is beautiful. It is shipped with off the stand. Onecomplaint I have about the stand is that you stick it inside the bottomof the TV and you screw it into the back. The screws are set so deepthat although I thought they were in, 2 have fallen out. It doesn'treally effect the TV though that the screws fell out. This is the thirdLCD TV I have unpacked and it was the only one not shipped with thestand on. Picture out of the box is amazing. There are several preset modesthat you can choose that effect picture and sound. These can be tweakedby the user. It also has a mode called Real Cinema that displays HDmovies in 24 frames per second like they are shot in. I have a PS3, Dish Network HD and a Toshiba Laptop with HD DVD andHDMI out that I have used with the TV without a problem. I am watchingLive Free or Die Hard on the PS3 now and it looks stunning. Besides the stand problem, there is one other thing I don't like.Like all flat screens now, the speakers are hidden behind the plasticbenzel. Rumbling sound effects and low frequency sounds cause it tovibrate sometimes. This is more noticeable the closer you get to theTV. Some reviews of the 37" Samsung model I was looking at alsomentioned this problem. Ironically, this is the reason I did not getthe Sammy. This is why I give it a 4 star rating. Of course, if you arehooking to a surround system this complaint doesn't matter. ADDENDUM I wanted to add that this LCD has the flat matte screen.No shiny glare like my CRT RPTV with the plexi-glass cover make movieviewing so much more enjoyable. UPDATE: I have 3 LCD TVs by 3 different makers. Of the 3, the LG isthe one that has NOT had a picture problem. I have an Olevia with aweird wide vertical band that is darker then the surrounding picture. Ihave a Mitsubishi that needed a new screen because of a thin verticalgreen line (The part was made by Samsung btw). When the repair man camefor the Mitsubishi, he explained the rattle in the LG. The speakershave a metal cover. There are rubber dampeners between the metalspeaker cover and plastic bezel that can get dislodged. That is whythere is a rattle on loud volumes and its amplified the higher you havetreble and bass. One of the best investments I've ever madeI did many weeks' worth of research online regarding HDTVs, since Iwas in the market for one. I have had this TV for a few weeks now andthe quality is nothing short of absolutely fantastic. I bought a PS3right around the same time and playing video games and viewing Blu-Raymovies is just spectacular. In the evening, if there are no lights onexcept for the TV, it's better than being at the movie theater!I bought the 37" because with all the features included with it(and it supporting 1080p), the price really couldn't be beat. That andwhen I was at the store comparing them, it just looked more brilliantand bright compared to the similar Samsung 37" right beside it (plus itwas $200 cheaper). When I took it back to my apartment, I was blownaway by how large it really is; they don't look so large in-store whenthey're near the 46" and 52" TVs!Setup is pretty simple. Didn't take too long, though the screws forthe base of the TV stand are set a bit deep, so it was a little toughto fully tighten them in. Something else that left a bit more to bedesired is the sound. If you don't have a home theater system already(which I don't), you may be cranking the volume up more than younormally would.All in all, this HDTV is incredible. Be sure you do your research, but I doubt you'll be disappointed with this one!

Very Happy Birthday to Me!I've had my new LG for a week and I'm thrilled withit. We bought this T.V. to replace an older 19" CRT for the den, wheremy wife and I end up watching T.V. in the evenings because the kids aredoing homework or entertaining in the room with the big HDTV. Thepicture is so crisp, and the colors so vibrant, that I find myselflooking for excuses to turn it on and watch it. I'm afraid to admit it,but I may actually prefer my new 32" LG to my 60" Sony! I liked theswivel base, so I was choosing between this set and a Samsung at thesame price point. The pictures were very, very similar in quality, butI chose the LG because it was a newer model than the Samsung, and theSamsung was really at the low end of the Samsung line, while this LG ismore in the middle of the LG line. The picture was great out of thebox, although the T.V. is packed with features allowing you to tune andtweak the picture settings to your heart's content. I'm also very happyI didn't spend more money for a 1080p set. At 32" the 720p resolutionlooks awesome, so I can spend that extra $150 on something else. Add toall the above the fact that the set looks fabulous sitting in itscabinet, and you have a great value.Thanks LG! Great choice for small roomThis TV deserves another 5 star rating! It'sperfect for our bedroom. The picture and sound were great on standardsettings right out of the box, although it has several alternatepre-sets and infinitely tweakable custom settings. The big menu is veryintuitive but it also has a quick menu that pops up in the lower rightcorner for quick changes to common things. The remote is small and haswell spaced, easy to use buttons.I wanted a solidly built TV with decent sound and my wife wanted noclutter and simple operation. This one is all black, no "bling" but hasenough features and connections so we could use it for more than astandalone TV. The "invisible speaker system" is pure genius and givesa surprisingly full sound without needing a speaker system and amp (noclutter). More importantly (to me since I'm a bit hard of hearing), theclear voice and auto sound leveling (quiet parts automatically turnedup while commercials don't come out blaring) both work well. It's oneof those "set and forget" things. Here are more pictures and specs:[...]A technophile could hash over the finer points and compare this toothers in its class, but as far as I'm concerned: it's a new model, hasa clear, bright picture, the faces and landscapes all look realistic,and it has great sound, so how much better can it get? Of course thenews and some commercials are still way over the top with colorsaturation and contrast, but that's not the TV's fault. 6ave get's five stars too. I'd never heard of them until I saw thisitem, but 2 minutes on their website convinced me they were organizedand reputable. It came wrapped in a second box with foam peanuts allaround it to prevent shock. The order was placed on Sunday and itarrived Wednesday morning in perfect condition. They are in the sameleague with NewEgg, B&H Photo and BuyDig. Also UPS called us tomake sure someone was home to sign for it.One last thing... the manual power switch and all the other sidecontrols/connectors are on the right side out of view, and that littlebump on the bottom frame (on the right) is a subtle status indicatorlight that glows red or blue. The main jacks are all on the rear left(as you would face the screen) and it has a built in wire guide thatcan help keep a few wires neater.Overall we are both very, very pleased and now we are planning onreplacing our big rear projection box with a sleek LCD TV, probably abigger version of this one. So get off the Samsung bandwagon and get this one before theysellout. Nothing against Samsung at all, but some marketing genius hasstolen the attention from other well engineered new TVs available onAmazon. Fingers CrossedI bought this TV on 7/7/09. After I'd set it up andfallen in love with it it malfunctioned-I turned it off and it wouldn'tturn back on. I returned it to Best Buy and exchanged it for the SharpLC32SB27U that the salesman there had tried to convince me to buy inthe first place. (The Sharp was on sale and saved me around $70.) Thatwas okay...but I didn't like the Sharp very much. The pedastal is muchbetter w/the LG and the picture was better right out of the box. I keptthe Sharp until 7/14,when I simply threw up my hands and went back toBB and exhanged this for yet another LG. (Ironically, the LG was now onsale. It cost less than the Sharp had cost when IT was on sale. Karma.)Once again I'm in love w/the set. The picture is fine and everythingabout the set seems more substantial than the Sharp. But will it last?I sure hope so. I'm not wealthy and a new television is a big deal tome. (I'm using this as my primary TV,while most of the reviewers seemto consider it too small for that.) I'll come back in 6-9 months andfollow up on how the set's doing. I've got my fingers crossed.Update 9/27: I had reported a problem with my DVD player with thisTV. I'd believed that the LG didn't have enough plugs to run my ancientDVD/VCR combination player and my wife's Wii system. The DVD combo isso old that there's no outlet for an HDMI cable. There ARE enoughoutlets on this TV. Finally I got things hooked up correctly, and myDVD player, the TV and my wife's games are all coexisting cheerfully.The strange thing I now have to deal with is that my DVD player won'twork properly unless I run it through my cable box with a coaxial cablehookup to the TV. Instead of using the DVD player through the inputmenu I use the "cable" input. Harmless but strange-this is no doubt aresult of using very old equipment and the AT&T Universe. So I nolonger have issues of any kind with this TV.

Very disappointedLast May, 2006 I talked my elderly parents into buying a"new-fangled" flat screen LCD...not an easy task considering Dad's oldtube TVs were still working fine after 15yrs of constant use. We wentto Circuit City and decided on the LG 37"...it was the least expensiveand seemed to have the best picture.Dad didn't want to pay for an expensive CC extended warrantybecause we figured if something were to go wrong with the set, it wouldhappen within a year.We got the set home and installed...the picture was so good withjust the coaxial cable connection that Dad canceled the appointment Ihad made with Comcast to set him up with a hi-def digital box.Well, everything went fine until July 2007...two months after theLG warranty expired, the TV suddenly stopped responding to theremotes...not just the LG remote, but another universal remote that hehad programmed as well. He eliminated all of the obvious causes...deadbatteries, blocked sensors,light interference etc. He had the TV takeninto be repaired. The tech, after undoing almost 100 screws to get tothe circuit board, said he found and repaired a badly soldered wire(which surprised me since I figured that these circuit boards are allsolid)..that was the only thing he could figure was wrong with it. TheTV/remotes worked fine for about 3 weeks and now the same thing hashappened again. So my 89 yr old father has to get up and go over to theTV every time he wants to adjust the volume of change channels. I callit the LG Senior Citizen Workout.Of course the set is beyond warranty, so neither LG nor CC has anylegal responsibility...except that people should know that there areserious manufacturing flaws in these products that are not easyrepairable...even if the consumer is willing to pay for the repair.LFNYCstopped workingscreen went black and unit stopped working after only 5 weeks frompurchase with only normal use, nothing out of ordinary. I was able totemporarily reset the tv and get it to work again by disconnecting thepower for an hour, but it quickly stopped working again. almost likethe whole thing just locks up. sounds like the same problem found onother other models.BEWARE. LG Lost GreatenessI have owned this for less than three weeks and its not working. Iam not sure how Best Buy handles these things but I will update youlater.

With the high contrast ratio, and probably thefatest refresh rate I've seen, it's too good to pass up. The pricedoesn't hurt either. I got lucky and got this as an open box item atBest Buy, for the price of the 32" version.Image - 10Sound - 8, not bad at all, but not outrageously good or anythingFast-moving images - 10! It works great when I play Halo 3Normal TV isn't too bad, especially with the normal size aspectratio. I can't wait to have HDTV on this thing. Highly recommended thusfar. Excellent HDTV picture and very good SD PictureThe HDTV picture is sharp and the colors are crisp and clear. Fleshtones are excellent. Standard def picture is very good. DVD picture isvery good. The viewing angle is good. Sound is very good. Thecontroller and the on-screen menu are easy to use and follow. I highlyrecommend this t.v. LG 37' 1080pThe LG 37 is one of a very few 37 inch LCD units that are full1080p displays. For those of us who want the best HD picture we canget, this is a good choice. The picture is clear and crisp and theaudio is typical of sets of this type, which means if you want greataudio, add a sound system. I found the controls somewhat hard todecipher, but once I got the idea, fine adjustments to color and soundwere easy. I had no problem finding hanging hardware. Trivial complaintis the large red off light that I can do without. Excellent pictureThis product lives up to its high rating. Peripheral views aregood. Only issue is that wall mounting is complicated by the widelyspaced mounting screws, which require a more expensive wall mount thansome other brands.

I have had this television for about 6 months now. I originally
purchased an open box display unit that mysteriously would shut itself
on and off. Once it was off it wouldn't power up for hours with the
switch or remote. After thoroughly checking all the timer and alarm
settings I called LG about the problem only to find that the serial
number had already been registered with this complaint and scheduled
for a return to the factory. Circuit City shamelessly tried to sell it
instead!

Anyway I got a brand new model from CC for the same price because
of their mistake. And have loved every minute of owning this unit. I
immediately upgraded my digital cable to include an HD DVR and
purchased a Yamaha 5.1 receiver for optimal sound. (Mostly to use with
my Mac mini home theater connected with a DVI to HDMI cable and sound
through a TOSlink optical cord.)

Television quality is excellent. Nice high contrast ratio. Response
rate is quick for sports and F1 races (and gaming is superb in HD!)
Overall I couldn't recommend this HDTV enough. LG continues to impress
me with their quality and value.

Excellent, Great PictureUpdated June 17, 2008: This is our second flat-screen LG TV. Webought a bigger unit for downstairs and just picked this one up for theMaster suite. We've hung it on the wall, using the HDMI connection. Welove it.Pro:-Very light (~35 pounds) and super thin (~4")-Remote is nice and feels good in my hand-I like that the power button is on the front (cleverly hidden intoa piece of the silver trim that runs along the bottom) and input,volume and channel can be changed from the right side/edge. This ishandy when the remote goes missing or it's far away.-Excellent black, and contrast. I personally think it produces the best (blackest) black, and doesn't wash out-Rated for 60,000 hours of use (that's 2500 days if you left it onall day every day or 20.5 years if you had it on only 8 hours a day)-3 HDMI connects, we are using 2, plus it does has USB 2.0 so itcan power more advanced devices, presumably for things like "thumbdrives" for viewing digital photos (although we've not tried anythinglike that yet)-Fast and easy set-up/install (hung on the wall)-Speakers are hidden -In case it wasn't clearly described in the tech specs you've seenelsewhere, this is a 16:9 widescreen LCD HD 1080p TV (that's fullhigh-definition)-Warm up time is short, maybe 3 seconds or so-Very wide viewing angle, looks great in a big space when seated to the side of the TV-Good for Blu-Ray (although we don't have it... our DVD player does"upgrade" our DVD signal/picture, but it's not true Blue-Ray)Con:-Full sound, but in my opinion with the factory settings we didn'tget as strong of a center channel as we would like, which usuallycontains the primary dialog. This led us to ramp up the volume tocompensate and would not have been an issue if we were hooking into ourstereo for surround sound. I wanted to replace the 30" Olevia in my bedroomthat is a little too small. I measured my armoire and had room for most37" flat screens. My criteria for a new set was size and I wanted1080P. My research included the JVC LT-37X688 37-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV,the Toshiba REGZA 37RV530U 37-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV and the SamsungLN37A550 37-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV. I decided on getting the LG mainlybecause of a couple of good reviews, LG makes many of the screens ofthe other manufacturers and because I could pick one up locally. The actual unit is beautiful. It is shipped with off the stand. Onecomplaint I have about the stand is that you stick it inside the bottomof the TV and you screw it into the back. The screws are set so deepthat although I thought they were in, 2 have fallen out. It doesn'treally effect the TV though that the screws fell out. This is the thirdLCD TV I have unpacked and it was the only one not shipped with thestand on. Picture out of the box is amazing. There are several preset modesthat you can choose that effect picture and sound. These can be tweakedby the user. It also has a mode called Real Cinema that displays HDmovies in 24 frames per second like they are shot in. I have a PS3, Dish Network HD and a Toshiba Laptop with HD DVD andHDMI out that I have used with the TV without a problem. I am watchingLive Free or Die Hard on the PS3 now and it looks stunning. Besides the stand problem, there is one other thing I don't like.Like all flat screens now, the speakers are hidden behind the plasticbenzel. Rumbling sound effects and low frequency sounds cause it tovibrate sometimes. This is more noticeable the closer you get to theTV. Some reviews of the 37" Samsung model I was looking at alsomentioned this problem. Ironically, this is the reason I did not getthe Sammy. This is why I give it a 4 star rating. ADDENDUM I wanted to add that this LCD has the flat matte screen.No shiny glare like my CRT RPTV with the plexi-glass cover make movieviewing so much more enjoyable. UPDATE: I have 3 LCD TVs by 3 different makers. Of the 3, the LG isthe one that has NOT had a picture problem. I have an Olevia with aweird wide vertical band that is darker then the surrounding picture. Ihave a Mitsubishi that needed a new screen because of a thin verticalgreen line (The part was made by Samsung btw). When the repair man camefor the Mitsubishi, he explained the rattle in the LG. The speakershave a metal cover. There are rubber dampeners between the metalspeaker cover and plastic bezel that can get dislodged. That is whythere is a rattle on loud volumes and its amplified the higher you havetreble and bass. One of the best investments I've ever madeI did many weeks' worth of research online regarding HDTVs, since Iwas in the market for one. I have had this TV for a few weeks now andthe quality is nothing short of absolutely fantastic. I bought a PS3right around the same time and playing video games and viewing Blu-Raymovies is just spectacular. In the evening, if there are no lights onexcept for the TV, it's better than being at the movie theater!I bought the 37" because with all the features included with it(and it supporting 1080p), the price really couldn't be beat. That andwhen I was at the store comparing them, it just looked more brilliantand bright compared to the similar Samsung 37" right beside it (plus itwas $200 cheaper). When I took it back to my apartment, I was blownaway by how large it really is; they don't look so large in-store whenthey're near the 46" and 52" TVs!Setup is pretty simple. Didn't take too long, though the screws forthe base of the TV stand are set a bit deep, so it was a little toughto fully tighten them in. Something else that left a bit more to bedesired is the sound. If you don't have a home theater system already(which I don't), you may be cranking the volume up more than younormally would.All in all, this HDTV is incredible. Be sure you do your research, but I doubt you'll be disappointed with this one!

Great internet optionsI bought this tv because of the netcast/netflixinternet option. The netflix takes a second to come setup and worksgreat. The audio on this tv is great for a LCD. The color are prettygood but the blacks are light especially in dark scenes (this is myonly compliant). Also there is some concerns that cnet.com pointed outin regard to how this tv processes 1080p. If you are looking for a TVwith out of this world picture that than this is not it (I wouldsuggest a newer LED model or older Sony/Samsung). This TV is for thosewho really want the yahoo widgets and netflix/youtube. Another drawbackis that it has no wireless connectivity.I would still recommend getting it if you can live with lighter blacks and really love netflix.com.For 1200 bucks for a 47 inch LCD , 120 HZ and 1080p is a pretty good deal. Fair Picture Quality and Cumbersome RemoteONLY BUY THIS IF IT IS BELOW $1100 OR YOU WANT THE NET FLIX/U TUBE FEATURES.This TV lists for $1600, but is often available for less than that.The picture quality is not equal to competing $1600 TVs (like theSamsung...or just about any other brand). This TV is often on sale inthe $900 to $1200 range. When the price is below $1100, it may bedifficult to find any other 47" TV that cheap. (of course, TV pricesdrop so fast, that my pricing recommendation could be soon out ofdate). You can get a 780p plasma TV in that price range, but thoseusually have even worse picture quality (I never liked the creamyquality of plasma TVs).Note that the first one I got was bad. After it ran for a fewminutes, it would start getting black bands. This is the first time inmy life that I ever had to return a TV (except for a small protable DVDplayer with a screen).The picture quality is OK but not vibrant. Like all LCD TVs, youcan play around with the picture settings a lot and improve thequality. It seems like with all LCD TVs I have seen that the defaultsettings are not the best. But, the problem is that it takes a lot ofscrewing around and trial and error to get the best picture.The TV has a "Picture Wizard" to help you calibrate the picture. I tried it and didn't like the results.The TV also has power saving modes that adjust the brightness andan automatic brightness adjuster. I found that to get the best picture,you had to crank it to the brightest picture.What was really disappointing to me was the 120 Hz motion feature.With 120 Hz, the picture should be smoother during action shots, wheresomething moves quickly across the screen or there is a fast scan.During fast motion scenes, there is a lot of pixalation on this TV. Itis worse than my old 37 inch 60 Hz EMPREX TV.The sound quality on this TV is only fair, but I have heard evenworse. But, most LCD TVs seem to have poor sound quality. I'm not surewhy. In the last days of CRT TVs, the manufacturers were paying a lotof attention to sound quality. You could a 24 inch JVC or Philips TVfor fairly cheap with excellent sound quality. The speakers had a widedynamic range and were crystal clear. Maybe people are so intringued byhigh definition picture that they aren't demanding high quality audio.Or maybe the manufacturers are assuming everyone will use a separatesurround sound system, so it doen's matter what the TV sound is like.The TV takes a long time to come on and a long time to switchbetween the input modes. All LCD TVs do take longer to come on than theold CRT TVs, but this one seems worse than most. I don't like the remote control on this TV set. It is hard to getto the menus for the functions I use a lot, like sleep timer and aspectratio. And trying to train my wife how to use those features is almostimpossible. Overall, I am not impressed with LG's video or audio quality. Ihave an LG DVD recorder/VCR hooked up to this TV. You combine the twotogether and you get some real horrible quality. (However, the DVDplayer is responsible for most of it).So what is good about this TV?-Very nice, attactive design.-It swivels.-I got it at a low price and it was way cheaper than any other 47" TV.-It isn't horrible (it just isn't as good as other LCD TVs)-It has the NET FLIX, U Tube connectivity that is supposed to bereally easy to use. I haven't tried it yet. It isn't wireless, so youhave to either have to run a LAN cable from your router or connect awireless access point to it (which can cost from $20 to $100).Very PleasedI don't know what else to say. It arrived at my doorthe first day of a 6 day shipping window. Set-up was simple andstraight forward. The TV is not particularly heavy. And the ability towatch Netflix is great. There isn't a lot of content on instant playyet but this will be in my home for years to come. This is my first non-crt TV so I don't have much to compare thepicture to. But for $1500 I can't complain about the hardware. The TVeven pulls music and pictures from an external HDD attached to anetworked computer that is wireless-g. No big surprise, and the searchis manual, but it's possible. Perhaps they'll even send an update tostream video at some point. This is capable of becoming a media serverin a TV.

FantasticWe received this LG last week and couldn't be happier. My husbandset it up himself and had it programmed and ready to go in a shorttime. The picture is great and we are extremely pleased with the sound.We looked at many LCD's before making this purchase and I know we madethe right choice. The price, unbelievable. No matter which angle youlook at the screen, the picture is clear and sharp. It doesn't matterif the room is dark or well lit, great picture!!!Outstanding TVI reviewed many, many LCDs before purchasing this unit. I am a longtime Sony fan but after looking at the various offerings in thissize/class and comparing them to the LG there was one major thing thatstood out, there was NO glare at all. I have this TV in a room wherethere tends to be a lot of glare and the Sony I had in the room wasterrible with reflections. I went into a local store to see the 47LG70and could not believe how well it dealt with glare from the lights inthe store. That sealed the deal for me.Excellent picture, pretty good sound but I rarely use the speakerson the TV and instead us my Sony sound system for everything (XBOX 360,Dish HD, Blueray, Apple TV, etc..) and lots of connections with HDMI.Remote is fine and I really like the swivel stand. A snap to setup andthe picture quality with blueray (Iron Man looks fantastic!!) is trulyamazing.You cannot go wrong with this unit.Excellent LCDI recently purchased this TV from Fry's Electronics for about$1400.00 with tax. Human skin tone lookscartoonish at closeup, a negative for this set. There is no blurmotion, even with NASCAR. The on-screen menu is very easy to navigate,so no need to read the manual on the CD. Lots of connectivity optionson the back and a few jacks on the side for camcorder (no HiDef.)Auto-sizing is always correct on screen size - unlike some other HDTVsthat sometimes get it wrong. There is a green/red status LED so that Iknow whether the TV is actually on or in standby mode (less than 1Wwith EnergyStar.) The set is heavy at 110 pounds, but that also helpsdeter theft I reckon. The shining and narrow black frame is absolutelybeautiful. Overall, I highly recommend this 52" monster. No dead pixels orphysical damage to the TV what so ever. I hooked up the HD cable, XBOX360, and my surround sound system. I played Gears of War 2 & Halo 3immediately. The colors were simply amazing except for the range ofblack. There was no blur during 10 hours of straight playtime. Thesound wasn't bad when I unhooked my surround sound for TV shows, butduring the play of XBOX there was a difference not too big though.There are plenty of jacks on this TV and I've even hooked up my laptopto the TV with no problems at all. I can even sit away from the TV witha wireless mouse/keyboard linked to my laptop and can still readwebsites just fine. All in all I'm very happy with this purchase.Thank-You LG & Amazon

This is a great television and easy to use.I have had this television for two weeks. I got itafter being greatly disappointed with a Vizio 37 inch 1080p. Thedifference between the two was very noticeable. The picture and soundare far superior. Even when comparing to the 720p LG 37 inch, this oneis much better. The television was very easy to set up. The amount ofHDMI, component and AV inputs are more than adequate for any standardhome theater set up. I read one review that gave this television lowmarks for not having a headphone jack. I feel that if you are going toget a television of this caliber, you will get a good receiver thatsupports headphones. I feel that is an unimportant option and I preferhaving that fourth HDMI port. The energy saving option is a niceaddition, although if you get a lot of sun, you need to keep thatsetting low during the day. All menu options are easy to navigate. Ilove that the television knows what types of connections you have. Whenscrolling through inputs, it highlights the inputs that have devicesconnected. Overall, this is a great TV and I highly recommend it.Love it! 1080p @ 120 Hz is sweet! I have had this HDTV for about 2 days now. I upgraded to the 37LH40 from an LG 30" wide screen 720p/1080i CRT (tube). Right away I noticed a huge difference in clarity/detail with thisone in the 1080p mode. I have a PS3 (connected via HDMI), Xbox 360 (viacomponent cable), Directv (HDMI) and a standard upconvert dvd player(via HDMI). The difference between 60Hz and 120Hz could easily be seen whenthe store demos were scrolling baseball team logos sideways on a blackscreen. The 60Hz models were jerking the logos while the 120Hz modelswere MUCH MUCH smoother. I'm looking forward to watching NFL games thisyear on this LCD! The only things I wish the 37LH40 had is a back-lit remote. TheLCD screen comes close to the black color displayed on my previous HDTVtube model, but the blacks are a bit darker on the tube. Perhaps withsome more fine tuning, I can get it right. As far as the lack of a headphone jack/speakers, I don't use themon the tv. I play my sound thru a surround sound system via opticalcable from the tv. OVERALL, I'm very happy with the purchase. I gave up a biggerscreen size to get the 120Hz model, which I think was worth it for whatI will be using the HDTV for. LG37LH40 LCDTVThis tv performs all the normal tasks as per spec's.The biggest flaws are:1. The lack of printed manual.2. The remote is chintzy, and isn't lighted.My biggest Pluses are:1. Great picture quality.2. Good on board speakers.3. Lots of HDMI ports.4. Attractive appearance.One special alert:1. My DirecTV remote didn't list LG as a recognized TV.a.You must KNOW that LG = LUCKY GOLDSTAR in the DirecTv remotecodes list. Very good valueI have had the LG 37LH30 for about 3 weeks now. Itseems to be an excellent TV and I would have given it 5 stars exceptfor one thing. It has only one optical audio out and no RCA type audiooutputs. That means I cannot run the audio out to a simple old amp topower my external speakers. I would need to buy a newer amp withoptical audio inputs. The optical gives 5.1 audio, but I don't havethat sort of setup and do not have any 5.1 audio coming in anyway.Other than that it is doing a fine job. I have DVD, cable to the TVtuner, Tivo, PC-VGA and a cable set top box all coming in with inputsto spare. I went through hours of comparisons and feature filtering andam happy with the result.AwesomeSo here's the deal, I compared the 2008 model ofthis LG with a comparable Sony and Samsung. Side by side, feature forfeature the LG put them both in the closet. Do yourself a favor and dothe same if you're thinking of buying a TV. As of this writing (midMarch 2009) the 2009 model will be out approximately next week. Thestore I bought from gave me $100 discount if I bought and waited forthe new model to arrive. I gladly obliged.MY FIRST LG TV AND HAPPY WITH PRODUCTThis is my first LG TV purchase (all of my last 5tv purchases have been Vizio which I consider to have high standardsand have not had any problems with them). To date I have found this TVpicture clear, menu easy to use and I did purchase a square tradewarranty - just in case!

Poor Quality Poor sound quality, erratic behavior when channel changing. Forgets channels entered. Sometimes it just blacks out if you change the channels quickly. The sound is tinny and scratchy with no depth even after trying to improve it . False Advertising This TV clearly states on its spec sheet under this heading: REAR AUDIO/VIDEO INPUTS/OUTPUTS this item: RS-232c In (Control/Service)BUT LG tech support has reported to me this is incorrect. I purchased this TV specifically for the RS232 control and it doesn't work at all! I will try to return it.

Excellent TV! This is the 2nd LG monitor/TV I own and see absolutely no reason not to buy LG again. Picture is excellent, even with non HD programming. Of course the quality of your non-HD programming depends on the feed... so thats really negligible. If you're looking for an excellent mid-range priced HDTV then this is the one to get. Great Entry-Level TV Great Price We have had this TV for a week now and for the price I'd have a hard time believing you can find a better entry-level LCD. Picture is fantastic, sound is above average, multiple hdmi inputs and the video settings are easy to configure. All I can say is wow The picture is fantastic couldn't be happier. I was concerned about buying a TV in this price range but it is as good as the much more expensive TV's I've seen. Directions in the booklet aren't that good, however the cd is much more detailed and has shown me everything I need to know. My sister has already purchased one based on what she saw with ours. I would recommend it to everyone.
